Default Counter-Response to JhJ Muslim Thread.

I would like to say that anybody who has/had legitimate questions about islam, its origin and its laws, watch this documentary about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) life. Watch it with an open mind, its only a source of knowledge (light).

Tells the story of the seventh century prophet who changed world history in 23 years, and continues to shapes the lives of more than 1.2 billion people. The film takes viewers not only to ancient Middle Eastern sites where Muhammad's story unfolds, but into the homes, mosques and workplaces of some of America's estimated seven million Muslim to discover the many ways in which they follow Muhammad's example.

This sweeping two-hour documentary goes well beyond the boundaries of the past. "Muhammad is 'history in the present tense,'" says co-creator/producer Michael Wolfe, a well-known Muslim author. "In it, we reflect on this 7th century story through the experiences of 21st century Americans who feel deeply connected to what Muhammad did, said and believed." A presentation of KQED/San Francisco, the documentary is produced by Kikim Media and Unity Productions Foundation. Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet was created and produced by Michael Wolfe and Alexander Kronemer, and produced and directed by Michael Schwarz. Noted actor André Braugher is the narrator. With some of the world's greatest scholars on Islam providing historical context and critical perspective, Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet tells of intrigue and faith, revolutionary ideas and bitter persecution, brutal war and brilliant diplomacy in an arid desert where tribal allegiance was often the only protection. Muhammad was orphaned as a child, but he was fortunate to be born into the powerful tribe of the Quraysh in the city of Mecca, a regional pilgrimage site and commercial crossroads. He became a successful trader based in this cosmopolitan center and married a woman who was a wealthy merchant. Yet as Muhammad prospered with the city, he saw that the poor were increasingly neglected and hedonism dominated the culture.

like a confessional? nobody is perfect so mistakes will happen right? but as muslims, discipline is the no.1 thing, discipline the mind and body to overcome temptations, even with little bit of it, a 'good' muslim hardly ever ends up in that predicament. but as for confessionals? no. there is nothing official, but im sure you could go discuss with your local mosque's immam (priest). but asking for forgiveness for that is upto you and your God.

muslims believe if you've done something wrong, and you regret it you just speak to God directly, theres no need to go through anyone.. God is the one you want forgiveness from so He's the one you ask forgivness from

however, if you've done something and you're not sure what to do about it and you need some sort of advice, i.e. someone to talk back to you rather than someone to confesss to, then yeah, you could go to the leader of a mosque because he's likely to be more knowledgable than you about the issue in an islamic sense

Thats how we are to. I don't see a need to have someone else take my issues to God.

exactly

besides, if you've done something wrong, there's no need to go tell people about it.. now im not saying do shit and hide it from everyone, but its unnecessary to spread the shit if you can deal with it in your own home by speaking to God directly

but to each his own i suppose
