Default ipod video issue

5th gen ipod
version 1.3
model #MA146LL
Windows format

(itunes version 7.7.1.11)

i used to be able to upload movies/music videos to my ipod, now i cannot.
when i try to drag the movie into the itunes program i get an error message saying "(movie name) was not copied to (ipod) because it cannot be played on this ipod".

this hapens with movies and music videos, which i download (from forums, not itunes) and they are already in .mp4 format

searched, and i still cannot resolve this. any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

-------EDIT-----
i just put on a 50cent music video sucessfully to my ipod. when i look at the properties of the movie and compare it to the 50cent video, they appear the same; same mp4 format. why is it that i can put one video file on, and not another? (the 50cent music vid i downloaded from a link off hhu.)

are you running vista or xp?

A lot of the TV shows and movies claim to be "iPod ready" but they're not. Download this. On the right side you can set your iPod specifications and it should convert...

You can also try this app:

Video Conversion Software, OJOsoft Total Video DVD Converter Software

Works really well and is FAST. You can also BATCH convert a bunch of files for ipod / iphone all at once.
